FORBIDDEN LIFE

 FORBIDDEN LIFE

Simon sat under the large acacia tree, its branches casting playful shadows on the warm earth beneath. The cool breeze carried the scent of wildflowers as he flipped through his worn Bible, his fingers pausing on his favorite verse: "He makes all things beautiful in its time" (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

That’s when Peris appeared.

Her presence was like a gentle storm—calm yet intense, subtle but commanding. She had always been the girl whose laughter could light up a village and whose eyes spoke louder than her words. But today, there was something different. She walked with purpose, her heart practically spilling from her chest.

"Simon," she called, her voice trembling slightly.

Simon closed his Bible and looked up. His usual calm demeanor masked the curiosity growing within him. "Yes, Peris?"

She took a deep breath, her cheeks flushing under the evening sun. "I... I’ve been holding this in for so long. Simon, I admire you. I love your strength, your faith, your kindness. I—" She paused, her eyes searching his for a response. "I want to walk this life with you. To stand by your side."

For a moment, Simon was silent. The weight of her words lingered in the air between them. He could see the sincerity in her eyes, the courage it took for her to bare her heart like this.

But Simon had always been a man of conviction, someone who sought God's purpose in every decision.

"Peris," he began softly, "you are an amazing person. You have a heart that shines, a joy that inspires. But..." He paused, his eyes filled with gentleness. "God hasn’t placed the same feelings in my heart for you. I see you as a sister in Christ, a friend, but not more than that."

Peris’ smile faltered, and her eyes glistened with unshed tears. "But Simon... why? I could make you happy. We could grow together, serve together..."

Simon reached out and took her hand, his grip firm yet reassuring. "You deserve someone who will love you as deeply as you love them, Peris. Someone who will wake up every day thanking God for you. I can’t be that man, and it wouldn’t be fair to you for me to pretend otherwise. God's timing is perfect, and His plans for you are greater than you can imagine."

Tears slipped down her cheeks, but she nodded, her faith anchoring her amidst the heartbreak. "I understand, Simon. I... I just hope one day I’ll see the bigger picture."

"You will," Simon said, his voice steady. "Trust Him, Peris. He’s writing a story far better than anything we can imagine."

As Peris walked away, her heart ached, but a sense of peace began to settle in. She knew Simon’s rejection wasn’t out of cruelty, but out of love—a love rooted in truth and faith.

Weeks turned into months, and Peris threw herself into her dreams, her prayers growing deeper and her spirit stronger. One day, she met someone—a man whose heart reflected her own, a man who loved her as Simon had said she deserved to be loved.

As for Simon, he continued to seek God’s guidance, his heart steadfast and his faith unwavering. He prayed for Peris often, knowing that their paths had crossed for a reason.

And in the end, both Simon and Peris found what they were looking for—not in each other, but in the One who had always held their stories in His hands
